You might remember a while back that I did a stupid thing called running the London Marathon blind-tasting a wine every mile. Well, after that someone then approached me and said, 'hey if you can do something as silly as that, then you can definitely write a book'.
And it turns out, running the London Marathon is a lot easier.
But, after a few headaches, meltdowns and quite a few bottles of wine, I actually have managed to write a book. It’s called Thirsty: 100 Great Wines and Stories, and it’s being released on 6 November 2025.
This isn’t your dull ol' wine manual - it’s me on paper. One hundred bottles I love (from supermarket gems to Château legends) and the stories that go with them, plus more than just a bit of me and my family (the Gilbeys have been in wine since the 1800s). You’ll learn how to read a label without feeling like a wanker, talk wine without sounding daft, and why some bottles might smell like your granny’s cardigan. I think it's quite funny, approachable and weirdly heartfelt, so you might not only have a laugh reading it, but hopefully you'll learn something too. Pre-order it now - you’ll thank me by Christmas.
