Book me for your Wine Challenge

HOW DO THEY WORK?

The Wine Challenge is an evening event, run any day from Monday to
Thursday evening. It is the perfect team-building event and is great fun
and interactive.
Ideal numbers for a Wine Challenge are 20 to 150 in cocktail style.

HOW LONG IS THE EVENT?

The entire event lasts 4 hours, although people are able to leave after the challenge is finished.
Guests are invited to arrive at 18:30 for 19:00 prompt start with Tom unless agreed otherwise. Tom will be available at the venue from 18h00.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

If we provide the venue, food, wine and hosting with Tom our fee is £200 per head ex VAT with a minimum spend of £3,200 ex VAT.
We work with a number of excellent venues around the city, but should
you require a different venue, we will quote accordingly on a case-by-case
basis.
If you provide the venue and food, and we provide the wine and hosting with Tom our fee is £95 per head ex VAT and the minimum spend of GBP
2,500 ex VAT.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A WINE CHALLENGE?

We will greet you and your guests with fizz and canapés on arrival at
18h30. Once everybody has arrived, we will call everybody into teams.
Teams will be spread out around the room and each team will be given a captain. It is the captain’s job to fill in the multiple-choice questionnaire on behalf of their team for each of the seven wines we taste.
The blind wine tasting consists of 7 wines. 3 whites and 4 reds. These
wines will be selected from all around the world. Teams will guess the
grape variety, country, vintage, the exact wine and the price. Tom will of course be going around helping those teams that are struggling and
serving curved balls to those who are doing just a bit too well. Tom also
issues bonus points for awesome input and minus points for any bad
behaviour and he has a whistle with him to call it out.

Scores are given after each wine and a tally of teams scores is kept
throughout the evening. At the end we have a winning team, a runner up and of course a losing team. We have prizes for all!
The tasting formalities run for about 1.5 to 2 hours after which time, food platters are brought out and Tom makes sure there is plenty of wine for everybody.

We like to have these booked at least 3 weeks prior to the event date.

DO I HAVE TO KNOW MUCH ABOUT WINE TO ENJOY IT?

Absolutely NOT! These are fun events, completely inclusive and focused not just on the wine but also drawing on my lifelong experiences in the world of wine. I love to include the human stories that really bring this amazing drink to life.

Virtual Wine Events

HOW DO THEY WORK?

We work with you to select a theme in line with your budget. You provide us contact details for all the guests and we then send out the wines and cheeses, beautifully packaged with tasting notes and quiz sheets to arrive in good time for your event.
We suggest running the tastings on Zoom and we manage this for you. We can also use Teams and other platforms.
Our themes are :
The French Connection
The Italian Job
The Old World Meets the New
We recommend 4 bottles of wine to include a delicious fizz to start. We can do a combination of full and half bottles.
We make these tastings into events by keeping them light-hearted, interesting, inclusive and fun. During the tasting we will cover:
• How to taste wine
• What to buy for the best value
• How to match food with wine
• How to store and decant wine
• What temperature to serve wine
….. and many other topics too, not limited to, but to include, ‘can I still drink this wine that I have had hidden in my cupboard under the stairs for five years?’

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
The tasting lasts just over an hour. This allows me time to run through three to four wines. It gives us time to taste them properly, ask and answer questions and tell a story or two. Guests can then leave without feeling rude and those who want to stay and chat can do so. I stay on to field questions for a while then leave the call open for you and your guests to stay on and enjoy finishing the wines and cheeses together.
We have 3 slots from Mondays to Thursdays 16h30, 18h00 and 19h30.

WHAT ARE IDEAL NUMBERS

Ideal numbers for the Virtual tasting are between 15 and 150 and the way I manage the tastings varies to suit this. With larger numbers, we will use break-out rooms during the tasting to allow all guests to take part and feel the inclusiveness of the event. I will then spend time in each breakout room to ensure I interact with all guests.

For numbers over 150 the event becomes less interactive and morphs in to more of a presentation. We have done and can do numbers of circa 300 and keep these as interactive as possible using the ‘chat’ room.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Our tastings fall into three categories – Good, Better & Best
We then have two levels of pricing for each category. A price for under 20 boxes or participants and a price for over 20 boxes or participants.
We have a minimum spend for smaller numbers, of £1000 ex VAT

PRICING TIERS

Numbers less than 20:
Good: £130 inc VAT
Better: £145 inc VAT
Best: £160 inc VAT
Numbers more than 20:
Good: £120 inc VAT
Better: £135 inc VAT
Best: £150 inc VAT
If you decide not to have cheese, then each box is £15 less.
If you would like to have a bespoke service where you suggest other wines or themes, then the price per box will be £180 inc VAT. If you are wanting something less expensive, we could do an event at £90 inc VAT per box.
A deposit of £300 inclusive of VAT, secures the booking and the balance is payable within 7 days of the event.
We do not ship outside of the UK, but should you have guests in Europe, we can discuss options with you.

WHAT DO WE GET?

I am obsessed with making these tastings brilliant, so we make the contents of the box and the presentation nothing short of excellent. Each box is beautifully presented to include a corkscrew, a stop drop, four tasting identifiers and wines/cheeses as below:
GOOD – 4 extremely tasty, characterful and unique bottles of wine with three delicious cheeses, cheese biscuits and a relish. Wines could include one fizz, one white and two reds in line with the theme chosen.
BETTER – 4 bottles of wine that are a step up in quality from the good category. Expect a Champagne or equivalent and classic wines with real character including examples your guests will probably not have tasted before. We include 3 delicious cheeses to compliment the wines, crackers and a relish.
BEST – 4 bottles that are even better than the ‘Better’ category. Expect wines that wine lovers will recognise e.g. Saint Emilion, Burgundy, Barolo, Montalcino and classic New World names. …. and of course we include the three cheeses, biscuits and relish too.

CAN WE ADD FOOD?

Yes, we include three carefully selected cheeses in each box to match the wines and the theme. We also include delicious crackers and relish together with tasting notes on the cheeses.
We can provide Gluten free biscuits and adapt or swap the cheeses to cater for dietary requirements and preferences.
