We tasted our red burgundies from Guy Amiot last week and had a bit of a moment. They’re really really really good and we want everyone to know it! Here’s a little more about the two wines:
Bourgogne Pinot Noir ‘Cuvee Simone’ 2019, Domaine Amiot
A chunky, juicy, fleshy Bourgogne Pinot that shows just how good a wine grower Guy is. It fills the senses with black cherry, strawberry, a hint of blackcurrant and an undertone of spice. We completely love it!
Chassagne Montrachet ‘Vieilles Vignes’ 2018. Domaine Amiot
Very grown up red Burgundy and just how we like it. Made from 60 year old vines, it’s a complex, sensuous, elegant and fine wine that grows in power and finesse as it breaths in the glass. It’s our ‘go to’ treat yourself wine at the mo ….
Citrus and tropical fruit, served up with mind-blowing freshness.
A richly layered, bone-dry white that Sommeliers go mad about. Incredibly rounded and startlingly fresh! This is a wine you want to air out for 15 minutes or so to really let it open up and wow you from the first sip.
Jean Francois Clouet is one of the great characters of the wine world. Now running his family Champagne house as well as being the Mayor of Bouzy JF is focussed on making the finest that Pinot Noir can produce in sparkling wine … and he’s doing a great job – toasty and fruity on the nose with elegance and zest.
Perfectly balanced white burgundy – creamy, fruity and fine
This is as good and Macon gets and shows exactly what can be achieved from a brilliant terroir. Limestone soils and painstaking effort in vineyard and winery combine to produce this beautifully pure , expressive and classy white – it’s just brilliant.
