Alianca Dão DOC, Portugal, 2019
This wine sums up why Portugal is in my top three countries for delicious, great value wine. It screams ripe cherry and plum on the 'sniff', then pops a bit of blackberry in on the 'swirl'. It's made from hand harvested, native Portuguese grape varietals in Dao, south of the Duoro Valley. The tannins are soft and luscious having spent 6 months in French oak and it's a dead ringer for a tasty winter casserole. I simply ❤️ everything about it.
