Kumeu River Mates Vineyard Chardonnay, 2022

The first vintage of this vineyard was released on the 50th anniversary of the Kumeu River Estate. This is a truly exceptional wine and should be regarded as one of the best Chardonnays in the world no less. Described by Jancis Robinson as 'quite the triumph' this wine has layer upon layer of flavour. It has fresh apple teamed with ripe stone fruit with a honeyed undertone. The palette is rich and creamy, this wine can be enjoyed now but will without a doubt only improve with time.

Kumeu River is a family run estate owned by the Brajkovich's, established in 1944. Their head wine maker Michael Brajkovich was the first person in New Zealand to achieve their Master of Wine certification (which is no mean feat!). The Brajkovichs have played a key role in the international recognition of New Zealand wine as a quality producing country, their Chardonnays in particular have gained world class recognition and have been known to beat the best in Burgundy.
