Last of the Summer Wine Box
Sunshine or no Sunshine here's a selection of my favourite wines of the moment. One bottle each of these below:
Voltes White, Greece
Blended from the local Moschofilero & Roditis grapes, this is 'drink me all day' white. Light and supremely tasty with ripe stone fruit and crisp apple. Totally yum.
Picpoul de Pinet, Languedoc
A lipstinger! Crisp, fresh and brilliantly made. A totally different league to your Pub, Restaurant or Supermarket Picpoul #properwine
Avesso Vinho Verde, Portugal
Vinho Verde don't get better than this. 10 years ago I'd have been craving a Chablis or a Sancerre - I'm now wanting this. Citrus, orange blossom, crisp apple - it's got the lot
T'air d'Oc Syrah, Domaine Gayda, Languedoc
These guys make super pure, classy, varietal wines in the South of France and this one's packed with black pepper, blackcurrant and licourice. Get a slab of meat on the grill and a big glass of this and you're all set.
Primitivo di Manduria, Puglia, Italy
I described this recently as 'come to bed with me' Primitivo because it really is just that. Rich, luscious, well structured and moreish. It's a full bodied banger of a red.
Little Yerring Pinot Noir, Australia
There's nothing little about this wine. it's brilliant and bright and a terrific expression of Pinot Noir at a sensible price. New Zealand, Chile and maybe France would be the obvious places to look for this but Yerring Station from Victoria in Oz put down a massive marker with this.
