Blanquette de Limoux St Hilaire Brut, NV

Blanquette de Limoux St Hilaire Brut, NV

A lovely bright fizz with aromas of pear, apple, citrus, and a touch of stone fruit. The wine gets a little more grown up on the palate with flavours of bread and brioche developing, much like those you find in Champagne. A crisp and refreshing sparkler, perfect for everyday occasions, or when you're hosting many people and don't want to get out the 'good stuff'. The perfect bridge between Prosecco and Champagne.

The story is that this wine is almost as good at the taste! This wine comes from the South West of France which is supposedly the home of the very first French Sparkling wine. It is said that a rather well-known monk Dom Pierre Pérignon honed his skills as a cellar master at Abbaye de Saint-Hilaire before re-locating to the Abbaye d'Hautvillers in Champagne, and taking with it the secrets of making top quality sparkling wine! So this wine is made in almost the same way as Champagne, the traditional method, 12 months on the lees, but available at a fraction of the price!
